DCE participates at MAST annual exhibition in Stockholm, Sweden between 21–23 October 2009. The SEAL Carrier concept with the basic conceptual ideas will be presented together with SAAB Underwater Systems.

For more than 30 years Saab has been developing advanced ROVs and AUVs. During the last years Saab Underwater Systems have been developing a new generation vehicles. These new vehicles are the SAROV, a hybrid AUV/ROVs that can be used both as conventional ROVs and as AUVs, depending on what the mission requires. Defence Consulting Europe has developed a unique craft called The SEAL SDV (Swimmer Delivery Vehicle). On the surface, the vehicle operates as a fast RIB at 30 knots plus. It can also appear fully submerged and in a semi-submerged mode with a long endurance and a limited signature. In MCM operations speed of advance, safety of ships and crew and information superiority are vital criteria’s of success. Nowadays the ability for surface units (forces) to move in a faster and more covert way demands a higher degree of early warning regarding the sea mine threat. To be able to gain access of information about the treat level in dangerous areas such as chocke points or other areas will strengthen the way towards a mission success. This paper will present a concept on how Saab Underwater Systems AB’s Double Eagle SAROV vehicle can be fitted on to a The Seal SDV which gives the SAROV system increased capabilities such as: Higher speed towards and back from the area of operation, Increasing the distance to area of operation, Covert launch and recovery capabilities. This system of systems concept will give dual-use of naval equipment and lead the way towards new approaches in the MCM domain.
