The SEAL Carrier operates submerged in a fully flooded state and can also assume a semi-submerged mode with a long endurance and a limited signature. On the surface, the vehicle operates as a fast RIB at 30 knots plus (water jet propulsion system, powerful diesel engine). The air in the pontoons is evacuated when the vehicle is in the semi-submerged mode or submerged. Under water The SEAL Carrier is battery powered and propelled by electrical thrusters. A large breathing air supply gives the divers and the systems onboard an extensive underwater capacity. The tailor-made navigation and inertia system together with active sonar gives the vehicle an outstanding navigation performance. |
